Guests tour spectacular Willy Wonka-themed holiday décor to benefit expansion of Lee Health cancer services NAPLES, Fla. (Dec. 20, 2022) – Nearly 150 guests toured the extravagant and whimsical holiday decorations at the Naples home of Theo and Madeleine Dahl, son and daughter-in-law of the late Roald Dahl, the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and other favorite children’s stories. The Dec. 9 holiday included heavy hors d’oeuvres, candy and treats, and a tour of the decorations including 36 holiday trees, 10,000 individual ornaments, a full-size sleigh and more throughout the house. The Dahls were inspired to host the fundraising party to support the expansion of Lee Health cancer services in honor of their assistant Josh Brown, who in in remission after being treated for colon cancer at the Regional Cancer Center, and other friends battling cancer. The party raised more than $17,000, part of efforts all year by the Bonita Bay community, which has contributed nearly $800,000 towards the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation community challenge to raise funds to expand Lee Heath Regional Cancer Center services throughout Southwest Florida and establish the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Cancer Clinic at the Bonita Health Center. With donations from the Southwest Florida community, Lee Health Foundation must raise $1.5 million in donations to receive the $1.5 million grant from Schulze Family Foundation. To date, Lee Health Foundation has raised just over $1.1 million. The expansion is expected to be completed in early 2023 and will include a 32-chair Infusion Center, four individual treatment rooms and 12 exam rooms to serve 30,000 infusions and 12,000 physician visits annually.
