STARability Foundation honors International Day of Persons with Disabilities NAPLES, Fla. (Nov. 30, 2022) – STARability Foundation will observe International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Saturday, Dec. 3. The 2022 theme is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: The role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.” Created in 1992 by the United Nations, International Day of Persons with Disabilities aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. “At STARability, we are constantly working to address local issues our STAR participants are often faced with such as a lack of community and social connections, employment opportunities, continuing education and life-enriching experiences,” said Karen Govern, CEO of STARability Foundation. “We have created vital programs and developed partnerships throughout the community so we can provide innovative, inclusive opportunities for our STARs.” To learn more about STARability’s lifechanging programs, visit STARability.org. For nearly four decades, STARability Foundation has been shining a light on abilities, not disabilities. Formed by a small community of caring parents, STARability has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading nonprofits. Today, the organization is opening a world of possibilities for hundreds of individuals ages 14 and older by offering a variety of inclusive programs focused on vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement and community involvement.
