July’s Art Studio Projects Did you know CMON’s Art Studio has a whole new theme every few weeks? Each Art Studio theme is based on a favorite book and incorporates art projects and activities inspired by the story. Our next book is Three Nasty Gnarlies, by Keith Graves. This funny and unique book tells the story of three creatures on a quest to discover their inner strengths. This new theme opens on Thursday, July 7! Be sure to spend some time in the Art Studio this month for some awesome, hands-on activities! Join Us Daily for Complimentary Programs! Did you know CMON offers pop-up activities and Little Learners story time every day the museum is open? Registration is never required, and these short, interactive games or projects help children work together and discover new ways to learn through play. Little Learners story time and activity is held daily in The Library (upstairs) at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Pop-up activities are held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., either near the Big Blue Wall in the museum atrium or in the Backyard at the Water Table. The location is announced with the activity name just before each session. Coming Up at CMON Monday, July 11, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. RSVP Here Join us at the museum during member-only hour and help yourself to a complimentary spread of fruits, pastries, and beverages. (Yes, coffee is definitely included!) This is a great opportunity for members to meet other members. Bring your little ones and get your day of play started early! No advance registration required. All active museum members are welcome. See you there! National Ice Cream Day Sunday, July 17 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Share With Friends I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Visit CMON on Sunday, July 17, and enjoy delicious homemade ice cream from locally owned Fernweh (formerly Wanderlust) Ice Cream paired with some fantastic, kid-friendly lunch options. Owners Jessisca and Chef Job will be serving up scoops and a variety of lunch items by the CMON picnic tables from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., with a portion of proceeds benefiting the museum. Exceptional Night Tuesday, July 26 ?5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Register Now Exceptional Nights are created specifically for children with physical and/or neurological disabilities, Autism, and other sensory integration disorders. Lighting and sounds are muted, cool-down spaces are available, and participation is limited to keep crowds to a minimum. The whole family is encouraged to attend to make the evening enjoyable and educational for the child. Event is free for members and $5 per person for non-members. Mini Buddhas Kids Yoga at CMON Sunday, August 14 9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Sign Up Here This 30-minute session is designed for Mini Buddhas of all ages, and parents are encouraged to play and participate. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. Class registration is per child (with 1 parent included) and also includes museum admission for the day! Check-in begins at the front desk at 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 24 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Learn More & Sign Up Here Wear your most fashionable outfit and join us for an unforgettable parent-and-child fashion play workshop at the Children’s Museum of Naples! Hosted by Chelsea Provenzano, Founder & Designer at The Designer’s Accomplice, this unique workshop is built for children ages 5 – 8 and their parents. During the workshop, children will dress in their favorite outfits and participate in what Chelsea calls #FashionPlay by creating their own purse using high quality materials. Once they’re finished, the designers will strut down the runway sporting their brand-new handbag and fashionable outfit Looking to Get Your Business Involved in the Community? Partner with CMON! White Horse, 2007 Bob Kane Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1939, Kane studied art in New York City under Will Barnet at the Art Students League. There he began to develop his characteristic use of large, flattened planes of expressive color. He enjoyed relationships with many interesting figures who collected his work, including actors Audrey Hepburn, Al Pacino, Leonard Nimoy, and Mary Tyler Moore; and major collectors such as Edward Broida and Olga Hirshhorn. His works are included in more than thirty museums' permanent collections.
