(May 17, 2022) – Nearly 180 community members were greeted by STARability Foundation staff, volunteers and STAR participants for the inaugural Bunny Breakfast at BrickTop’s in Waterside Shops. The event raised $7,500 that will help fund STARability Foundation’s inclusive programs and services. Families enjoyed a delicious prix-fixe breakfast menu and each child received a special Easter bag full of treats. There were also a variety of photo opportunities with festive characters from Pazazz Performers. STAR Studio products handmade by STAR participants such as greeting cards, candles and bracelets were on full display outside the restaurant. “We were honored to partner with Waterside Shops on this wonderful community event,” said Karen Govern, CEO of STARability Foundation. “The support we received from the community is vital to our mission of providing all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with access to programs, resources, and opportunities to live a meaningful and productive life.” For nearly four decades, STARability Foundation has been shining a light on abilities, not disabilities. Formed by a small community of caring parents, STARability has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading nonprofits. Today, the organization is opening a world of possibilities to more than 300 people by offering a variety of inclusive programs focused on vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement and community involvement.
