Collier’s Reserve Country Club members donate over $200,000 to help Pace Center for Girls, Collier at Immokalee Immokalee, FL – Over $200,000 was raised by Collier’s Reserve Country Club (CRCC) over the past 18 months to help the prevention program, Pace Center for Girls, located in Immokalee, Florida. The partnership between Pace and CRCC began in January 2020 when Terry Spoleti and Kathy Boyle, Event Co-Chairs from the Women’s Club of Collier’s Reserve Country Club, contacted Pace Collier at Immokalee’s Executive Director, Marianne Kearns, about the possibility of Pace being a beneficiary of the gala that was planned for the Summer of 2020. Little did anyone know what 2020 had in store. After cancelling their gala, Spoleti and Boyle problem solved to find a way to raise the needed funds in time of the Covid pandemic. The team hosted multiple small events throughout the year for the CRCC members, to include a 70-person golf tournament, Swing for The Girls, in February 2021. The community’s charitable giving did not stop there. Last month the community hosted a pickleball tournament that raised another $8000 for the Collier at Immokalee Pace Center. “We have been so amazed and proud of the generosity of our Collier’s Reserve community. Initially we were nervous that we would ‘swing and miss’ by proceeding with our fundraising during a pandemic, but we were encouraged by our friends to proceed and have faith, and our community blew us away with their response to the Swing for The Girls campaign!” Spoleti said. If it was not for their perseverance, Pace Collier at Immokalee would have had a much tougher time providing students with everything they need to be successful. “The care, concern, and support to our girls and center has been overwhelming in a very good way,” said Kearns. “It has been such a pleasure and honor to partner with the Collier’s Reserve Women’s Club. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts,” Claudine Leger-Wetzel, Pace Collier at Immokalee Board Chair stated. Funds raised have been used to improve the Pace girls’ lives while at the center. This Spring, a new art center was built for the girls to have a creative outlet and improvements were made to one of Pace’s therapy rooms for the girls to provide a safe and comfortable environment when they are meeting with Pace staff. Pickleball funds will be used to purchase physical fitness equipment to give Pace girls an opportunity to build healthy lifestyle habits. About Pace Center for Girls, Collier at Immokalee: Pace Center for Girls, Inc. is a non-residential juvenile delinquency prevention and intervention program targeting the unique needs of girls, ages 12 to 18, who face challenges such as physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, foster care, neglect, death of a parent, family history of incarceration and declining grades.
