ewish Federation of Greater Naples holds Power of Community Celebration March 29 Several Jewish and community-wide awards announced NAPLES, Fla. (April 15, 2022) – Jewish Federation of Greater Naples held its Power of Community Celebration March 29. Members of the community were recognized with several awards. “Coming together is a declaration of our solidarity and the positive impact we have on our community and our world when we work together,” said Paula Fuller, Jewish Federation of Greater Naples Annual Community Campaign chair. “No change is more powerful than the change we make possible collectively.” The event celebrates the Annual Community Campaign, the fundraising arm of the Federation, to meet the financial needs of local, regional, national and overseas humanitarian organizations and beneficiary agencies. A committee of volunteers and the Federation staff balance available resources with community priorities through a grant process. Beneficiaries include community-wide needs as well as various educational and cultural programs conducted by local synagogues, the Holocaust Museum, other local Jewish organizations and social, educational and vocational needs throughout the Jewish world. Awards presented at the event included: The Human Needs Award, an annual monetary award created by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Federation to acknowledge positive contributions of small nonprofit organizations serving severely means-limited disadvantaged populations. The 2022 winners are: Cultivate Abundance, which addresses food insecurity for farmworkers in Immokalee. STARability Foundation, which provides opportunities to those with intellectual and development disabilities. The Stand Up for Justice Award is an educator grant that recognizes school educators who are innovative in bringing respect for others’ differences into their activities in a transformative, impactful and caring way. The 2022 winners are: First place, Romi Rameau, Parkside Elementary School; Kathryn Doyle, Village Oaks Elementary School. Honorable mention, Courtney Cassidy, Golden Gate High School; Lindsey Simmons, Lorenzo Walker Technical High School; Catherine Crawford, Gulf Coast High School. The new Power of Community Award recognizes outstanding commitment and support demonstrated by a communal agency, congregation, community organization or individual in strengthening community partnerships and cooperation. The 2022 recipient is the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for leadership, commitment, ensuring safety and partnering with the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples for Shop with a Sheriff, an annual event to benefit at-risk children. Patricia J. Adkins Youth Leadership Award, which honors the achievements of Collier County high school seniors demonstrating leadership in their activities at their respective congregation and or BBYO, the leading pluralistic Jewish teen movement. Recipients receive a $2,500 scholarship. 2022 recipients were Ana Ellis and Daniel Isakov. The new Campaign Achievement Award is presented to a volunteer campaign solicitor in recognition of outstanding achievement, leadership and commitment to the Federation’s Annual Community campaign. The 2022 recipients are Bettey Schwartz and Susan Pittelman, for commitment and leadership and founding of the Pomegranate Society. “We have made our Annual Campaign theme ‘Here for Good’ to acknowledge all that the Federation can do through our power of community,” said Kirk Wisemayer, annual community campaign director for the Federation. “This event helps us to celebrate community and rejoice in the good we do in the world, Jewish life, our traditions and being part of a vibrant and engaged Jewish community and all it has to offer.” About Jewish Federation of Greater Naples The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples is the thread that runs through the fabric of the Jewish Community, its organizations and services, connecting us all.
