Hodges University Announces Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene Classes Start in August February 15, 2022 –FORT MYERS, FLA – Hodges University answers the call when it comes to the workforce needs in the region. One of those needs is for more dental hygienists. As a result, Hodges University has announced the start of a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene program. Classes start in August. This is the first and only entry-level bachelor’s degree in the state of Florida. Dental hygienists with a bachelor’s degree can provide expert dental hygiene care to patients, and also become instructors for dental programs at the associate degree level. Additional career options range from dental sales and research to consulting and wellness coaching. According to the Bureau of Labor, demand for dental hygienists is growing 11 percent through the year 2030 and the average annual salary is $67,870. Hodges’ dental hygiene students will learn from professors who are experts in the field as they initially gain hands-on experience in a new, state-of-the-art simulation lab, and later provide dental hygiene care to patients in the University’s new, modern community dental hygiene clinic.
