Fort. Myers, FL – 9/14/2021– Midwest Food Bank of Florida – a volunteer-driven, faith-based organization dedicated to alleviating hunger, malnutrition and providing disaster relief locally receives Nonprofit of the Year award at this year’s SWFL Inc, INCredible Awards ceremony. This award was part of the SWFL Inc., INCredible Awards at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort, with over 160 attendees, including local Lee County commissioners, government representatives and community businesses and leaders. Recognizing the dedication, that Midwest Food Bank Florida has on SWFL communities, announcing food relief impact of over $4.1 million meals donated to Lee County and $4.7 million meals to Collier County in 2020 alone. In addition to this food relief effort, Midwest Food Bank Florida supports 37 additional counties with food every month from their Fort Myers warehouse. In 2020, this nonprofit rescued, distributed and donated over $52 million dollars’ worth of food, feeding 2.4 million people in Florida. Turning $1 donation into $34 worth of food, ensuring 99% of all funds go directly to food relief programs, this award was well earned. In 2021 Q2, this Florida division also exceeded its quarterly 30% goal on nutrition focus, rescuing and donating 43% of fresh, nutritious produce, daily and protein food products.
