Bonita Springs, FL - The Florida Lions Eye Clinic (FLEC) is pleased to announce the election of new officers to its board of directors. Elena Gonzalez, Esq, past Secretary, will now take on the role of President, replacing Noreen Thomas, EdD, who will now take on the role of Secretary. Director Dawn Lieb has been selected to be the new Vice President while Larry DeArmond will remain the Treasurer for another term. “It’s an exciting time to be leading this nonprofit Board and a privilege to support an organization that provides quality eye care for those with need in our community,” said Ms. Gonzalez. “We have a tremendous team at the Clinic and an experienced and dedicated Board of Directors. I am incredibly proud of our accomplishments so far and am confident in our future as we continue to grow and expand our impact.” “I am excited for what the future holds under Elena’s leadership,” said Robin Goldstone Garcia, Executive Director of FLEC. “She brings a wealth of experience and will be vital in our ability to scale and meet the growing demand for eye care in our community.” Ms. Gonzalez is retired from the Senior Executive Service, U.S. Department of the Interior in Washington D.C., and received her Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University. Ms. Lieb is a retired federal administrative law judge in the Departments of Health and Human Services and Social Security Administration, and received her Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University. Ms. Thomas is the retired EVP and Lee Campus President of the Edison State College System and received her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas. Mr. DeArmond is the retired CFO and partner at Catalyst Equity Group, LLC. He is a Certified Public Accountant and graduate of Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. About the Florida Lions Eye Clinic The Florida Lions Eye Clinic offers free, state-of-the-art, eye care to children, families and adults who are underserved, do not have medical insurance, and meet the qualifying guidelines. In collaboration with Lions Clubs throughout the state, the Clinic also brings onsite screenings and clinical care to many of the underserved areas in southwest Florida. Serving over 2,000 patients annually, the Clinic relies on the generosity of its supporters and their donations of time, talent, and treasure.
