The Board of Directors of Fun Time Early Childhood Academy thanks all who attended and made their annual fundraising Gala, “Treasures of the Sea,” a huge success! The Gala, hosted by Honorary Chairs, Janet and Blake Gable, was held Thursday, February 13, 2020 at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. Over $300,000 was raised to help The Academy provide quality early childhood education for children of low-income working families who are entering kindergarten, ensuring they are ready to read and ready to learn. NBC-2 anchor and long-time Fun Time supporter Stacey Deffenbaugh welcomed the sellout crowd of over 300 guests into a dreamy undersea atmosphere, where truly aquatic personalities were spotted swimming around the room. King Neptunes and beautiful mermaids chatted happily with guests that included many other thematically dressed underwater fishy folks. The live auction hosted by guest auctioneer Mayor Bill Barnett was a lively time of bidding for an exciting array of generously donated luxury items, including a deluxe Caribbean seven-day cruise from Crystal Cruises co-donated by Betty Maclean Travel. For those more land-based guests, vigorous competition ensued for a chance to enjoy a 10-guest sommelier-led wine and artisan cheese tasting at The Wine Store. On behalf of the Academy’s Board of Directors, Emeriti and Event Committee, Board Chair Marsha Murphy thanks everyone who so generously continues to support the mission to educate Fun Time Academy students.
