Collier Senior Resources (CSR) at the Golden Gate Senior Center – a nonprofit organization working to address the needs of older adults and their caregivers – will host “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” a free series of classes taking place from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on six Thursdays starting Feb. 20 at 4898 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples FL.
Presented by the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is designed to provide self-care skills to caregivers from all walks of life, teaching them how to:
· Reduce stress
· Improve self-confidence
· Create life balance
· Better communicate feelings
· Increase decision making
· Locate helpful resources
“Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is taking place from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on six consecutive Thursdays, February 20 through March 26, 2020, at the Golden Gate Senior Center. Collier Senior Resources at the Golden Gate Senior Center offers a vibrant, diverse and caring space for some 1,400 members to enjoy comprehensive offerings that include: a daily hot lunch and coffee bar; weekly food patry, blood pressure, vision and diabetes screenings, oral health assessments, balance testing and fall prevention lectures; monthly birthday parties, dance and exercise classes, Alzheimer’s Support Groups, art therapy, cards and games, holiday parties, crafts; Direct Assistance for Needy Seniors Program and other life-enhancing programs and services.
Through the Center, CSR serves more than 1,200 hot lunches a month to seniors in-need and provides 780+ families weekly access to a Meals of Hope food pantry, including 330 needy seniors.
The charity maximizes each dollar received by collaborating with trusted partners, including AARP Foundation (job placement and training for out-of-work, low-income seniors), Alzheimer’s Support Network, Area Agency on Aging, Catholic Charities (social services), Collier Area Transport, Collier County Nutrition, SHINE Medicare counseling, Literacy Volunteers, Sheriff’s Office and more.
