St. Matthew’s House Board Chairman Rachael Loukonen announces that five new board members have been elected to the St. Matthew’s House board of directors. New board members are Michael Duke, retired president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; Dennis Flint, retired chairman and chief executive officer of TaylorMade Group and Babcock Industries; Richard Grows, executive director of J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Naples; Dr. Robert A. Howell, retired professor of business at Harvard Business School, and William J. Wright, long-time donor to St. Mathew’s House. “We are honored and grateful as we welcome these talented leaders to the St. Matthew’s House board of directors,” says Loukonen. “Our board members fully support and guide the mission of St. Matthew’s House with a genuine passion for bringing hope and healing to people who are hungry, homeless and hurting.” St. Matthew’s House provides services to the homeless, those struggling with food insecurity, and individuals seeking addiction recovery. Operating the only Collier County facility approved for public feeding, St. Matthew’s House provides more than 500,000 meals each year for St. Matthew’s House residents and those in the community who are suffering from chronic hunger. In addition, St. Matthew’s House operates the only emergency homeless shelters in Collier County, sheltering more than 300 men, women and children every night. St. Matthew’s House has developed a unique Social Enterprise Model that includes five thrift stores, a car wash and detailing center, catering operation and more. A commercial catering kitchen and restaurant — Lulu’s Kitchen — is under construction and slated to open this summer. “Our social enterprises generate the funds needed for St. Matthew’s House administrative operations so that 100 percent of every donation goes directly to support our life-transforming programs and services,” notes St. Matthew’s House President and CEO Vann Ellison.
