The Conservancy of Southwest Florida invites Southwest Florida anglers to participate in its annual RedSnook Catch and Release Charity Tournament Nov. 1-3. The three-day fundraising event will feature a kick-off party, two full days of fishing and an awards reception, all while raising awareness of the need for clean waterways and water quality’s influence on the Southwest Florida ecosystem. Proceeds will benefit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida’s juvenile game fish studies, water quality research and game estuary protection. The event begins on Friday, Nov. 1 with a kick-off party at the Conservancy Nature Center, featuring food trucks, craft beers, wine, raffles and a live auction. The Friday evening event is open to the public for just $75 per person. Proceeds support the Conservancy’s water quality work. Saturday and Sunday mornings, anglers will launch sites in Naples, Goodland and Chokoloskee for two days of fishing. The weekend event will conclude Sunday evening with a celebratory awards ceremony for anglers and guides at Northern Trust, 4001 Tamiami Trial N. in Naples. The Conservancy’s RedSnook Catch and Release Charity Tournament supports efforts to protect Southwest Florida’s most valuable resource, water. In the last few years, our local water quality has been compromised, and the effects on both native wildlife and human health were catastrophic. This tournament has allowed the Conservancy to continue to provide expertise to water quality projects at the local, state, and federal level. These projects include researching and monitoring juvenile gamefish habitats, creating the “Estuaries Report Card” to rate the condition of our region’s vital waterways, Western Everglades and Ten Thousand Islands restoration and more. As one of the founding pillars of the mission, water quality is a core value of the Conservancy, and it is important for native wildlife and human health that water quality stays a top priority in the near future, as well long-term. “Our annual tournament not only provides the community and local anglers with a weekend of fun on the water, it also plays a great role in furthering our mission of protecting Southwest Florida’s natural resources,” said Rob Moher, Conservancy of Southwest Florida president and CEO. “We hope to continue making positive strides in advocating for the resources that our community holds dear, and we look forward to another great tournament that will allow our programs to keep Southwest Florida waterways clean, safe and beautiful for future generations.” The RedSnook Tournament is generously sponsored by: Benjamin F. Edwards & Co., Northern Trust, RGM Capital, Tomkins Family Foundation, Ankrolab Brewing Company, Lazy Turtle, Safe Harbor, Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee, Sticky Holsters, The Brit Pit, Red Rock Cravings, Frisco’s Catering, and Clifton Larson Allen.
