Marco Island, November 15, 2018: - Marco Island Center for the Arts invites the public to the December “Art of Clay: Faces, Figures and Fantasies” exhibition. The Art Center’s Clay Guild will be displaying this quirky visual adventure in the Lauritzen & Rush Galleries. Some of the earliest art by humans was created with clay. In the exhibition, this ancient medium morphs into fantasy beings; faces are re-invented with clay and irreverent materials; figures are humorous, idiosyncratic and may just look like treasures from another dimension! This is the best of Holiday shopping for family, friends and you. The Clay Guild’s December exhibition is dedicated to Marco Island artist Marian Miller, the first official president of the Clay Guild. She was an enthusiastic volunteer with the “Art League” that in later years became known as Marco Island Center for the Arts. A beautiful sampling of Marian Miller’s clay work will be on display. The “Art of Clay: Faces, Figures and Fantasies” exhibition runs from December 3 - 20, 2018, Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The opening reception called Second Tuesday is from 5:30 – 7:00 pm on December 11th. No reservations are required. There is a suggested $10 donation for non-members. Our Taste of the Arts appetizers and samplings for this month’s exhibition reception will be provided by Nacho Mama’s, 599 South Collier Blvd., in the Marco Walk Plaza. The artist showcased in the La Petite Galerie is Susan Fraley. Her abstract work is full of color and uses techniques like scraping, blotting and scrumbling to create form and texture. Mini Masters Silent Auction and Sale will take place in the Art Center’s atrium from December 4 – 20, 2018 during Art Center hours. A silent auction of these works will begin on December 4th and end at 6:30 pm during the Second Tuesday reception. Remaining Mini Masters will be in the Atrium until December 20th and available for purchase at $40 each. Save the Date!
