Naples, FL – 11/14/18 – Collier Senior Resources (CSR), a nonprofit organization working to address the needs of older adults and their caregivers, was awarded the 2018 Lodestar Gift Provider of the Year Award during the Leadership Coalition on Aging’s Annual Conference on Aging held today, Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Ispiri Community Center, Avow Campus, Naples. The Lodestar Gift Provider of the Year Award recognizes those who ensure access to care for the needy through the provision of services. According to the Leadership Coalition on Aging (LCA), “The team at Collier Senior Resources’ Golden Gate Senior Center is to be commended for providing care and services to our most vulnerable residents in Collier County.” The annual Lodestar Awards celebrate leadership in the field of health & human services—specifically those making a difference in the greater Naples community serving seniors and is hosted by the LCA, an interagency group of more than 50 organizations, including private sector, nonprofit and governmental agencies. The coalition meets monthly to share resources, advance advocacy agendas, educate members, and plan outreach initiatives. Signature events include: •Annual Conference on Aging for Professionals •LODESTAR Awards, recognizing leadership in the senior sector •Empowerment Series for Seniors Founded in 2012 by Collier Senior Resources, LCA also presented awards for Professional of the Year: Annalise Smith, MHSA, CHA Senior Vice President of Engagement, Avow; Volunteer of the Year: Hallie Devlin, SHINE, Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders, Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Florida: and Civic Grassroots Leader of the Year: Dr. Jaclynn Faffer, President | CEO, Naples Senior Center at JFCS. Collier Senior Resources at the Golden Gate Senior Center is a nonprofit organization working to address the needs of older adults through programs, services, education and advocacy. CSR maximizes each dollar by collaborating with trusted partners to provide programs, socialization and convenient access to other agencies, including AARP Foundation (job placement and training for out-of-work, low-income seniors), Meals of Hope food pantry for all families in need, Alzheimer’s Support Network, Area Agency on Aging, Catholic Charities (social services), Collier Area Transport, Collier County Nutrition, SHINE Medicare counseling, Literacy Volunteers, Sheriff’s Office and more. The charity provides: a daily hot lunch and coffee bar; weekly food pantry, blood pressure, vision and diabetes screenings, oral health assessments, balance testing and fall prevention lectures; monthly birthday parties, dance and exercise classes, art therapy, cards and games, holiday parties, Alzheimer’s support groups, crafts and other life-enhancing programs and services for seniors. Additionally, CSR serves more than 1,200 hot lunches a month to seniors in-need and provides 780+ families weekly access to a Meals of Hope food pantry, including 330 needy seniors.
