(Naples, FL) (September 26, 2018) Community School of Naples and Naples-based ACI Worldwide, a leading global provider of real-time electronic payment and banking solutions, have teamed up to run a Coding for Girls camp. This free, one-day event, held within the school’s technology facility, is designed to introduce middle school girls to the world of technology and careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The interactive program will offer a crash course in computer programming, including HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Among other tasks, the girls will create their own Avatar and add animation to a web page. “With an eye on the future, coding is clearly a key skill for all students to master. CSN is therefore proud and honored to partner with ACI in hosting the Coding for Girls camp,” said Dr. David Watson, Head of Community School of Naples. “Important skills acquired in a fun, engaging environment--what could be better?” “We are proud to support an important global initiative like Coding for Girls; this event provides a great opportunity to engage with young women from our community, and teach them about opportunities in STEM-related professions,” said Mandy Killam, group president, ACI Worldwide. “The Community School of Naples’ technology facilities met our needs for hosting students for a half day of coding camp, and we’re looking forward to working with the bright minds who will fill the classroom.” The September 29 workshop is already at capacity with 36 girls signed up from all over Collier County. It runs 9:00am-1:00pm with a snack, lunch, computers and coding professionals as instructors. ACI Worldwide is an active member of the broader county and regional business community. In addition to growing its local footprint and bringing top talent to the Naples area, the payments leader spearheads multiple community service initiatives in Collier County and globally, including Habitat for Humanity and Coding for Girls.
