NAPLES, Fla. (May 2, 2018) – Adriana Sanchez, LVT, CVPP, CCRP with Animal Specialty Hospital of Florida and 24-hour Emergency Room (ASH) recently received the Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) designation from the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management as well as the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) certification from the University of Tennessee. As a certified veterinary pain practitioner, Sanchez holds advanced knowledge and skill in the recognition and control of pain levels in companion animals. This allows her to properly ensure patients are as comfortable as possible after surgery or trauma. In order to receive her CVPP distinction, Sanchez completed more than 90 hours of continuing education, demonstrated competency in10 pain-management-related categories, submitted two case studies, and passed a rigorous exam. Becoming a CCRP enables Sanchez to offer patients the best opportunity to recover from surgical, arthritic, geriatric and chronically debilitating diseases and conditions through physical rehabilitation. Much like humans, animals require physical rehabilitation to recover muscle strength and joint flexibility following an injury or long-term disuse. The CCRP certification requires more than 40 hours of online coursework, a five-day live course, submission of a variety of case studies, a 32-hour Companion Animal Pain Management course, and an exam and presentation of a specific case study at the University of Tennessee. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from Mercy College in 2009, Sanchez began her career at Animal Medical Center, one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the nation, in New York City. She continued at New York City Veterinary Specialists and Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners before joining ASH in 2014. At ASH, Sanchez leads the surgery service and the physical rehabilitation and fitness department. ASH offers specialty referral and emergency veterinary care. It is Collier County’s only veterinary facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – even during natural disasters. As one of the area’s largest and most technologically advanced animal hospitals, it is staffed with board-certified specialists in cardiology; critical care and emergency medicine; dermatology; internal medicine; physical rehabilitation; and surgery - including orthopedic, sports medicine, oncologic and soft tissue. Located at 10130 Market Street off I-75 at Exit 101, ASH is equipped with a full-service ICU; isolation ward; three sterile surgical suites; five exam rooms and private patient visitation room. It features an in-house rehabilitation center, blood bank, comprehensive laboratory, and pharmacy. And its diagnostic imaging capabilities include ultrasound, endoscopy, and digital radiography and fluoroscopy. For more information, visit www.ashfl.com. ###
