Naples, FL – 4/11/18 – Neighborhood Health Clinic (Clinic) – a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization providing Collier County’s working, uninsured resident’s affordable medical and dental care – is pleased to announce that the charity is one of 30 nonprofit organizations in Lee and Collier counties receiving a portion of $327,970 in grants from The League Club, Inc. “The $9,800 grant is allocated to two areas, our on-site Medication Room and Lab,” explains Chief Development Officer Keith Maples. “By funding a new refrigerator, we can store medication with a retail value of $3.5 million. Also, by covering the annual cost and maintenance of the Lab’s Piccolo diagnostic equipment, we are able to provide more than 14,000 blood chemistry tests for our physicians, allowing us to better serve our patients.” Awarded during an April 5, 2018, breakfast, the items funded by the grant ensure the Clinic’s nearly 400 volunteer medical professionals have the tools needed to provide the highest-quality, immediate medical care for more than 200 patients in-need each week. The League Club is a 501(c)(3) organization of Southwest Florida strengthening communities through fellowship, education, volunteerism, and philanthropy. The League Club women have also contributed thousands of volunteer hours in various areas. Members have served on numerous agency boards, worked in childcare and adult centers, with the illiterate and homeless, in conservation and arts groups and in churches. Liz Winebrenner, President of The League Club, stated, “We are pleased and grateful to be able to give so much to help our community partners raise the quality of life for residents in Collier and Lee counties. We thank our 600 members, Circle of Friends supporters, the community member who support our events, and our business sponsors. Their financial generosity and caring for the community are what enable us to make these grants.”
