The story of Jacquelyn Pierce’s life tells the tale of a young woman from the Midwest dedicated to educating school children in her earlier years, instructing college students in Women’s issues in her middle years, and then enlightening communities throughout the country with her vignettes of famous women in her mature years. While growing up her father told her that the “secret to life success was to get along with women.” As a life-long educator, Jackie continues her teaching with scenes depicting the lives of well-known women who have overcome great obstacles including Audrey Hepburn, Beverly Sills, Jackie Kennedy and the artist Georgia O’Keeffe. She has over 150 women in her vignette file. One of her favorites to perform is Mary Todd Lincoln who was not allowed formal schooling, so she educated herself. SWFL gained Jackie as a full-time resident in 2009. Marco Island Center for the Arts was fortunate to have her serve on the Board of Directors from 2013-2015. She is presently a member of the Emeritus Board. One of Jackie Pierce’s beloved quotes is “Earth without ART is eh.” She considers Marco Island Center for the Arts a little jewel. She also enthusiastically supports The Art Center’s mission “to promote education and appreciation of the arts.” For over 60 years, Jackie’s dedication to the fight against domestic violence has not waned after viewing the family life of a student. In Florida, Jackie has served for six years as a Trustee for The Shelter for Abused Women and is now on the Board of Directors. Her other accomplishments include: •2013 Woman of Initiative •2016 Naples Daily News “25 over 50” •Collier Senior Resources, Inc. – Board of Directors and Emeritus •Florida State of Parliamentarians – Past President •GFWC International – Board of Directors •GFWC Naples Woman’s Club – Club Parliamentarian •Greater Naples AAUW – Past President •Greater Naples Leadership – Past President, Governance Chair •Marco Island Woman’s Chair – Past President •Women’s Foundation of Collier County – Vice Chair As Jackie states “she continues doing and learning.” She believes age is irrelevant. Although, at some point in time she wants to write her family biography, re-read the classics and enjoy the benefits of retirement.
